As I mentioned back at Closing Ceremonies in June, Springfield Challenger has been honored to be invited to play at this years Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA before the U.S. Little League and International Little League Championship Games on Saturday August 29. We will be playing a team from Lackawanna Little League in Scranton, PA at 10AM that Saturday. Afterwards our team, family members, coaches and staff will be in attendance to watch the Championship Games mentioned above.
Fifteen of our players, (8) from Little Challengers and (7) from our Majors program, were randomly drawn at the end of June and will make the two day trip starting on August 28. We will be posting updates as we receive them from Little League and as things unfold here locally.
Playing at the World Series is the ultimate reward for the dedication and support of so many within Springfield Challenger. Our League, our friends and neighbors, our Sponsors and most importantly our community can be proud of the volunteers that have given so much of their time to help make a difference in not only the lives of our players, but also their families. When Springfield Challenger takes the field on August 29, it will become one of the proudest days in Springfield history.
This trip will cost Springfield Challenger thousands of dollars and we are looking for help. If you know of an organization, business or friends that would like to help our kids make this trip of a life time, please let them know how much their generosity would mean to so many and how they could truly make a difference in the lives of the greatest ball players they will ever know.
